Just saw The Grand Budapest Hotel. Oh, goodness, I loved it. A lovely Wes Anderson confection....but not like a meringue, all air and sugar, more like a wonderful but substantial sweet....a great pie. Its so much fun, so silly, and all the fabulous folks in it (yes, I remain a sucker for anything that includes Bill Murray, but also Fisher Stevens, Bob Balaban, Tilda Swinton , so many of my favorites) give it even more substance. But if you are one of those blessed by knowing someone who, perhaps, also sees the world more as it has been (and should be?) than as it is, then you may recognize M. Gustave H. G.L. Mislin and Jerina Page. While I love most of his films, The Royal Tenenbaums, Sunrise Kingdom, and Rushmore (among others), I can easily imagine watching The Grand Budapest Hotel over and over again. What fun all the actors seem to have, especially Ralph Fiennes and Adrien Brody (whose work I always want to like more than I actually enjoy). I was sorry to see the end (but, do stay through the credits for the dancing guy.)
