Just saw The Raid 2. Amazing action, nice try at a complex story, but the violence-to-characterization ratio was off. It took the juice out of the action scenes once you were forced to acknowledge the plot was just interstitial material until you got to the next fight scene. Needed 1/3 less action, and half again as much story. But they had the material for a real classic buried in that mountain of bloody bruises. Did I mention the action was extraordinary? Give it a B in some ways, an A in others, and an F if you have a weak stomach.
