Just saw the movie Pacific Rim last night and I might say, It had a striking resemblance to the MECHA anime Ive loved for years. Theyre saying its not a ripoff of Neon Genesis Evangelion but I beg to differ. It had a lotta scenes and ideas that came from the original anime franchise. I admit it aint that bad, i enjoyed watching it but when i read the reviews that MR. Director of the movie hasnt read or watched evangelion prior to making the movie I immediately cringed inside. In interviews he remarked that he did not research on anything and even said,: (One of the first things I did is make it a point to not check any old movies or any other references. Like start from scratch.) oh wow, from scratch eh? well, it all seems like the old familiar BULL weve been hearing, and no director or writer would admit to plagiarism anyway.I just hope if them peeps would make a Gundam movie in the future, they would reference it to the real series and would not pass it off as their own original idea. just my 2 cents. :)
