Just sent this letter to the Leicester Mercury and all the nationals: Turkey has basically been assisting ISIS during the siege of Kobane, by completing the encirclement of the town and preventing its Kurdish defenders from being reinforced and resupplied. As a result it looks certain that Kobane will now fall, with massive loss of both civilian lives and those of its defenders. Defenders who played a leading role in rescuing many of the Yezedi refugees, threatened with massacre by ISIS and who represent one of the few secular and non-sectarian forces in the region. Given Turkeys active support for ISIS, will the US & UK now declare them a terrorist state and cut off all military cooperation and trade?
