Just so yall dont think were having such a great time in Las - TopicsExpress

Just so yall dont think were having such a great time in Las Vegas, allow me to tell our tale of woe. We left Utah in good spirits until we stopped for gas. I had noticed that the RV was beginning to pull to one side. Lucky for us the gas station also had a truck tire shop right next door. I had them check out the tires and sure enough, the threads were separating and one tire (at least) was ready to blow. They also noticed that my shocks were completely gone (another suspicion I had). Bottom line, we left $5,000 lighter in the wallet. What upset me most was I had just replaced the two front tires at Camping World (yeah, I know, STUPID) last year! And they didnt say anything about the shocks. I knew the rear four tires were due to change out and planned that for next year. Oh well, got them early. As I mentioned earlier, the RV did not like climbing the Rocky Mountains and overheated on me four times. When we arrived at the Nellis RV Park I went to a Freightliner (big engine repair shop) on Friday to ask about an appointment to have them look at the overheating problem. I was told to get there first thing Tuesday morning because it was first come, first served and they didnt give appointments. I used the Armed Forces Vacation Club site and found a suite for a week for only $350 which covered us from Sunday to Sunday. I took the RV in first thing Tuesday morning and was told it would be a couple of days. On Thursday I called to see how things were going and was told that the RV hadnt even made it into the shop yet. Huh??? I mentioned to the guy that I was paying extra for hotel rooms and would appreciate a little priority. He said probably Friday or Monday. I decided to drive to California after checking out of the condo on Sunday so Julieann could visit with her friend and another temple. That was another motel for two days, but got a pretty good deal on Priceline.Com. Realizing that the RV was NOT going to be ready on Monday, I made reservations at the Nellis lodging for two nights to cover us when we returned from California. I called Freightliner when we arrived on Tuesday and the RV STILL hadnt made it into the shop for diagnosis. I again reminded the guy that we are bouncing from hotel to hotel waiting for results. It is now noon on Wednesday and he still hasnt called. We have to check out tomorrow (no more space A rooms for this week) so I spent two hours this morning searching the web for a one-night in downtown Vegas (Freemont Experience) and found a great dea. One night at the Four Queens for $37 (taxes, etc. included) with a $15 coupon to spend on food or drinks -- what a deal, eh? BUT, and theres always a but, this deal is only good Sunday thru Thursday. On Friday and Saturday the price goes up to $109 a night without the coupon. Other hotels jump to $200+ on weekends. So after our stay downtown tomorrow all we can do is hope the RV is ready. Otherwise we start searching for another place to stay. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. While we were staying in the condo the Jeep started shimmering if I drove faster than 60 MPH on the freeway. Yep, tires were separating so four new tires for only $424. Cant complain about these though. The old tires were guaranteed for 40,000 miles. I drove them at least 30,000 and towed them another 40,000 miles so I figure I really got my moneys worth out of them. Anyhow, I was just sitting in the lodging room thinking about all this stuff and figured it wouldnt weigh so much on me if I spread it around to all my friends. Thanks for listening ;-)
