Just spent time chatting with a neat guy i had shared a lane with one day in the pool last week- he was volunteering at the market. He had an obvious disability- with movement and speech, it seemed swimming was his therapy. Needs flippers to help etc. He was happy that day and told me thanks for pushing him on the swim. He was working SO hard.. To swim or talk....I left wondering what exactly had happened to him. Well today I introduced myself since i remembered him. He told me he had a brain injury right before grad school in 1988 (thus no grad school- was full scholarship too). Was an engineer. Assaulted in south Cali(over a girl-he said with a chuckle), in a coma for 3 months and life never the same. Movement and speech similar to a severe stroke. Was a great swimmer before and doctors said his conditioning prob saved his life. He made a point to tell kids to wear their helmets:-) so wear your helmets people!! Bike, 4wheeler, horse riding, etc.. And heres a few more !!!!!!!! ! !
