Just spoken at a debat in the Councel of Europe about the consequences of the arab spring for women. My text: To Europes great disappointment the Arab spring has not improved the position of women in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. As long as these countries remain members of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation no improvement can be expected. The regimes of these countries try to create the image of aiming at improving the position of women. They tell Europe what Europe likes to hear, which causes the European elite to breathe a sigh of relief and to think that everything will be all right. In the meantime, violence against women continues and even increases. In 2013 40,000 child marriages were contracted in Morocco. In 25% of these marriages the girl was younger than 15 years. This is a growing trend. Until 2013 polygamy was prohibited in Tunisia and Libya. In February the same year polygamy was accepted again in Libya. The Forward Organisation mentions that in Egypt presumably 97% of the women have been circumcised. this percentage can hardly become any higher. All the 5 countries dealt with in this report have been members of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation since 1969. The aim of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation is to islamise society and to gradually implement the sharia law. Sharia law includes family law, in which there is no gender equality. Calling on these countries by means of a resolution to change their family law in order to improve gender equality is a disastrous mission, because they will never reject the sharia law. That is why it is nonsense that countries such as Morocco and Tunisia could serve as role models in international organisations, like the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation. This organisation is the brainchild of the Muslim Brotherhood. The leader of the Muslim Brotherhood branch in Germany, el-Zayat, said that the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation can further a de facto caliphate, which will not present itself as such, but could start by applying a layer of varnish of UN legitimacy. With support from the United Nations the world caliphate might well become a reality, without the world realising this. The world caliphate is a disaster, not only for women, but for every free and right-minded person.
