Just to let all know: Lenora has been admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital to try and answer the question as to why is she NOT gaining enough weight fast enough. October 15th she weighed in at 9lbs. At her 2 month check-up (October 21) she weighed in at 9lbs, 12oz. I thought that was great! I was so excited, until her pediatrician told me 12oz wasnt enough and Lenora dropped to the 6 percentile. She was born in the 64%. Lenora has been gaining weight since being discharged from the NICU on August 27th, but very little and very slowly. She eats about 15oz of 24 calorie fortified breast milk with a 1/4 tsp of added rice cereal. We decided on another weight check 3 days later. So, yesterday (Monday, November 7th) she weighed in at 9.12 = NO weight gain. Pediatrician decided to call Lenoras Cleft Palate team and together they decided I should admit her to Johns Hopkins that very day. Im in Frederick, MD, John Hopkins (JH) is an hour away. Thank goodness the boys didnt have school today (Tuesday). I got everything together, pumped, fed Lenora, packed the 2 extra bottles I had. (My supply has been dropping and Im pumping just to get her a bottle while Im here and barely making it). I dropped the boys at my parents (30 minutes from JH) and my dad drove me and Lenora to JH. Dad stayed with me till 2am when they told us there would be NO ROOMS available till sometime Tuesday morning. I had asked my Dr. if I could wait till today to bring Lenora in, but she said no since they had called ahead and were expecting me and getting a room ready. HA! The ER medical team did everything to make our stay as comfortable as they could. Around noon today we finally made it to the 9th floor in a nice room with a SHOWER! Now it is a waiting game. Spoke with our Cleft Palate Doctor and looks like we will be here for at least 2 days. Heres hoping there is nothing wrong and she is just a slow gainer. Ill keep updating as I learn more. We are actually both doing really well. Though I miss my Starbucks.
