Just to let you know: the committee is going over the questionnaires that were gathered at the reunion. Some of you voiced complaints about the Friday night get together at Longos, that it was too loud and too crowded. That is the difference between public and private venues. There was no charge for the Longos venue. A person was free to meet and mingle, under no pressure to purchase anything, but able to meet up with old friends and dance if so moved. As for the band, they are hired by Longos. Longos is a public place, I dont even know it they rent out as private venue or how much it would cost. That night, there were at least three other classes celebrating (which we have no way of knowing) and it was open to the public as well. Of course it was crowded! The band is locally quite popular, playing at the Local Tavern and other spots around Lake County. They play music for dancing and not necessarily for conversing. I guess what Im saying is something that I learned a long time ago - you get what you pay for. We paid for Saturday night, quite a bit, actually. The music was more low key and the room was not wall-to-wall people. The CDs compiled by Steve Smith, Bill Small and Dave Durkee were a hit with attendees. We are discussing the use of those CDs exclusively for the FIFTIETH, and not hire a band at all! It will give us much more control over the noise level wherever we meet in 2019! As for the traditional Friday night meet and greet - we do need a large place. Perhaps someone will build a larger place or Longos will expand before 2019. Anyway, the returned questionnaires seemed to hit on those two issues alot: Longos was too noisy and Longos was too crowded. More to come on the questionnaires returned.
