Just to rag on the Political Thing further, and bore the hell out of all of you. I never understood African Politics, and the ability of a Bob Mugabe to rule for 30 years and run a once fabulously industrious and, for its size, the most prosperous country on this continent, into the ground. (Been to Zim?. Go check it out for a giggle.) Then I was told this by my father, who worked in Venda for many years, and had a professionally qualified and reasonably competent black staff compliment under him. He gained their trust and respect, and subsequently he learned quite a bit of African Culture. The essence of African perception of Leadership is this: The Leader knows best, hes the Leader after all. He can do no wrong. Many Africans have educated themselves, grown out of this ridiculous fallacy and even oppose it as fiercely as anybody else. But in a nutshell, there you have African Politics: Submission to and reverence for the Leader.
