Just to repeat what many of you know. The chant at the anti-Isreali demonstration in Berlin yesterday was: Jude, Jude, feiges Schwein, komm heraus und kämpf allein. (Jew, Jew cowardly pig, come out and fight alone.) What is appalling is that anti-Semitism is now rampant. Those who would have always conflated anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism now have nothing to restrict them. These people are not allies. They are simply racists. (it is tempting to use stronger language.) That the communities organising demonstrations such a this one, and the one in Paris are now targeting Jews, means that it is now thought that Jews are legitimate targets. These communities must desist. If Jews can stand against the war, others have to stand against anti-semitism. Every time it appears it must be condemned. Not by Jews but by those organising the demonstrations in Berlin and Paris, for example. If it is not condemned that silence must itself be understood as condemning.
