Just want to address something that I keep running into. This happens everyday on my posts so I am pinning this to the top of the page. We send most of our dogs/puppies to 501c rescues out of state because they have higher adoption rates than we do here and because they have better resources to get the animals vetted including spay and neuter and placed in these responsible homes. If the post says this dog needs a 501c rescue group, then it is available to a rescue group only. It is not available for adoption because we simply do not have the time, money, or resource to place all these dogs up for adoption here. Now, if we do put a dog up for adoption, we do have adoption requirements. You cannot just post I will take her on the thread unless you are one of our APPROVED rescue partners. It does not work like that. You must follow the proper procedure which includes emailing us for an adoption application, providing vet references, being approved, and letting us do a home check. There is also a fee of $150 to help reimburse the cost of fully vetting the dog. We will NEVER let a dog go to an individual adopter that is not fully vetted. We are not the pets for less site and we do not advocate for free to good home ads. The sad part of those are 90% of the time, we see those dogs dumped on the side of the road when the person gets tired of them. This is a personal choice and you do not have to agree with our rules. There are plenty of puppies and dogs available in the paper for those who choose to not agree with us. We are advocates of SPAY and NEUTER and will always be. We see the stuff that most people do not see. Litters upon litters dumped because they are unwanted yet people still allow their pups to have more and give them away to good homes only for them to have pups and the vicious cycle continues. Again, this is not an argument that I will even recognize because I see the results of irresponsible pet owners daily. Another issue: the dogs we have are strays. We do not know where they come from. We dont know their mama or their daddy. We do not perform DNA tests on these dogs so we cannot tell you what kind of dog this is or what else is this dog mixed with. We dont know. They are AL mutts. The best kind. Thanks for understanding. I have to vent because I find myself answering the same question a million times.
