Just wanted to give everyone an update from the USA treatment of how things are as I know many have been asking. It was not the miracle we were hoping for but there have been improvements. Andrew is walking faster, hes brighter when having conversations, hes still very tired but not sleeping quite as much. It has been hard accepting that our expectations fell very short of the reality but at the same time very grateful for any improvements. After a few weeks of being down it is now time to work hard to make changes happen. Attitudes have changed for the better and Andrew is going back to physio, we have an OT coming to the house and someone to come and help him do odd things around the place. He is hoping to attend the upper limb therapy group to try and gain function in the hand. The key to improvements is repetition of the same exercise/activity. For those who know Andrew well, he despises this as he gets so bored, so please keep encouraging him! The highlight of the past week is Andrew received a govt grant which has enabled him to purchase a new recumbent bike that will allow him to follow the bike boys on longer road journeys and into his beloved bush, this is where he feels free. I want to thanks everyone for all of your support especially those who still come around and get him out and about. It means so much!
