Just wanted to take a moment to weigh in on people getting arrested for feeding homeless in Fort Lauderdale. How unconscionable is it to enact laws against doing so? Where is the compassion for our fellow human beings? These people have issues ranging from loss of a job to physical and mental illnesses. I dont feel to much sorrow for people trying to enjoy the park who view these people as eyesores. If someone, whether homeless or not, is urinating in public in the park, or whatever it is makes you uncomfortable, address that issue. Dont ban people from being fed. What if some teenager spray-painted graffiti on the Jungle-Jim; are you going to ban kids from going into the park because of the actions of a few? Shame on you politicians in Fort Lauderdale. And just for the record, I am a Homeless Outreach Specialist for my agency. I carry clothing, hygiene items and food for when I meet them.
