Just watched The Plantagenets (recorded on IQ) from BBC. Astonished at how the women just excised from the history. Margaret of Anjou gets a mention and a cursory (& disapproving) glance in Elizabeth Woodvilles direction....hmmmm. But the most glaring omission was the narrator telling us that Richard III was betrayed at the Battle of Bosworth by Lord Stanley who changed his allegiance to Henry Tudors side mid battle. What he conspicuously failed to mention was that Lord Stanley was married to the formidable Margaret Beaufort who was not only Henry Tudors mother but the woman who had championed his right to the English throne ( dodgy at best) for decades and who, against all odds, eventually saw him gain it! Leaving her out of the story entirely is just extraordinary. I suspect this is what routinely happens to women. I only noticed because I am obsessed with the women of this period of history, most less informed viewers would simply never know. I am fuming!
