Just watched the movie 12 Years A Slave. Really brutal. As I left the theatre I thought about the fact that owning and beating slaves is over. The audience was a reflection of that. White, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Islamic all crying and blown away by the brutality of the words used and beatings given to black folks. What I did think about was the fact that the emotional scars of slavery still runs super deep. A must see movie by all.
