Just what I wanted for Christmas... Back in 2007, the FAA - TopicsExpress

Just what I wanted for Christmas... Back in 2007, the FAA officially deemed that any commercial use of drones without a permit was illegal. In June of 2014, the FAA issued an updated change to this guideline to apply specifically to the real estate industry, a Realtor using a model aircraft to photograph a property that he (or she) is trying to sell, in the real estate listing, DOES NOT constitute hobby or recreational use. Therefore, the FAA would classify such use by any real estate professional as commercial use and would therefore be subject to the ban. The National Association of Realtors has advised its members not to use any sort of unmanned aircraft devices, including drones, for the purposes of commercial real estate (or anything else for that matter) until a decision on the issue has been both finalized and enacted. They have also instructed members to avoid hiring anyone, professional photographers/videographers or otherwise, to perform these services on their behalf. Those who choose to ignore NARs warning risk being fined by the FAA. Click here for Myths on FAA and Drones:faa.gov/news/updates/?newsId=76381
