Just when you think you’re standing on top of the world, tragedy - TopicsExpress

Just when you think you’re standing on top of the world, tragedy could strike and change everything. Suddenly, feelings of despair begin to overshadow your life. And the security you thought you had just a moment ago takes the form of a question: Does anyone care? Yes! Someone does care. In fact, two words make this vividly clear: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). The shortest verse in the Bible speaks volumes of the love Jesus has for you! Does it give Him pleasure to see you suffer? No. To the contrary, He wants to give you the best in life, and desires to heal your broken heart. But you have to want what He wants before that could happen. Perhaps you’re standing on the edge of hurt. You’re saying to yourself, What have I become? Maybe you feel you’ve made too big a mess of things to turn back and start over . . . that you’re an utter failure and waste of life. Listen, you can’t be less than the thought Jesus has of you. He gave His life for you. That means your life is of great value to Him. He doesn’t see a worthless human-being when He looks at you. He sees someone who was worth dying for. Do you know what Jesus said before He died? “It is finished” (John 19:30). In other words, Jesus opened the door of forgiveness to the world. He bridged the gap that separated man from God. And now He is freely offering you an opportunity to break free from the guilt of your past. All you have to do is confess your sins to God, and embrace the new life He wants to give you in Christ. Will you let Him break those chains? You see, the question of whether God loves you or not has already been answered. “For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). You have the love, but do you have the heart to really do what’s best for yourself? Are you finished trying to make it on your own? Have you had enough yet? You’ve seen what this cruel world is about. You’ve tasted its poison, and know its sorrows well. Will you stop resisting the will of God and surrender your life to Jesus? You may not be able to undo the pain you’ve caused others in the past, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start life afresh in Christ. You can start over! Today. Right now. You can find enough grace in Jesus for the forgiveness of all your sins. But will you let Him usher you into a new life of hope and promise? He can wipe the tears from your eyes better than you can. He’s knocking at the door of your heart. Will you let Him in? Open your door to Jesus!
