K. I was challenged by Steffanie StAmour to name the top 15 most influential albums of my life. Here it goes in alphabetical order: 1. AC/DC - Back in Black. (this to me was just pure rock n roll. This is what its all about) 2. The Beatles - Revolver. (Could have gone with Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper, but this album to me was their turning point with Eleanor Rigby, She Said She Said, and my all time fave Beatle tune, Tomorrow Never Knows) 3. Björk- Post. (So many styles of music and emotion on this one. Still dig it when I listen to it. Bjork is punk rock in a way to me in the fact she doesnt give a F and plays and does what she wants) 4. Jeff Buckley - Grace (An amazing talent. The voice, the unique guitar chord voicings, and the haunting songs. He gave us just one album in his short life, but it was this album) 5. Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison (I can hear this over and over again. The.best.album.intro.ever) 6. CHVRCHES- The Bones of What You Believe. (This band is worth checking out. Vocals, Hooks and beats for days. Looking forward to what they come up with next) 7. The Cure- Disintegration (Moody guitar and soundscapes with amazing songwriting. One of the few albums that I can listen to from start to finish and influenced me into the shredding to ambient phase) 8. Def Leppard - Pyromania (I played this cassette out 3 or 4 times lol. This had the distorted guitars or rock, with catchy hooks and great production for the time. Kind of the beginning of Pop Rock if you will) 9. Dinosaur Jr - Where You Been (Other Dino albums could have made it but this one is amazing all the way thru. It introduced my obsession with Big Muffs) 10. Django Reinhardt - The Best Of (A French Gypsy guitarist that could only use 2 fingers and shred so hard that it makes me want to quit music? yup) 11. Janes Addiction - Ritual De Lo Habitual (For me this ranks as one of the top 3 albums ever recorded. If you dont get a near religious experience listening to Three Days or Then She Did, you should check for a soul. Kudos Dave Jerden) 12. Dean Martin - The Essential Dean Martin (Best male voice in the history of music. Better and cooler than Sinatra. Yeah, I said it) 13. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (My all time #1 favorite album. It isnt an album. Its a journey. Start to end. Hypnotizing feedback and loops. Recorded in 1990 and it still sounds ahead of its time. Def a must to check out) 14. Ramones - Ramones (They changed music for the better. 2 minute classics that didnt compromise or try to be something they werent) 15. The Smiths - The Queen is Dead (I could have gone with any Smiths record, but why did I pick this one? There is a Light That Never Goes Out) Honorable Mention: Led Zeppelin Official - Led Zeppelin II (Page is the riff-meister)
