KAAL-SARPA DOSH… Rahu and Ketu the lunar nodes are known as - TopicsExpress

KAAL-SARPA DOSH… Rahu and Ketu the lunar nodes are known as shadow planets. They are not independent planets like Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. All the time they are positioned at the opposite points of the zodiac like head and tail. Since the nature of both Rahu and Ketu is evil, their influence too is generally evil all the time. If all the 7 planets stated above come on one side of the Horoscope, this position of the horoscope is known as Kaal-Sarpa Dosh. ‘Kaal’ means time, ‘Sarpa’ means snake and ‘Dosh’ means affliction. So Kaal-Sarpa means an affliction mainly of the characteristics of a Snake. The person in whose native chart this Dosh occurs is often told such scary things that he/she starts believing that now their life is going to be doomed. But the Dosh or affliction is not explained by the sages Parasara, Bhrigu or Jaimini. However many modern astrologers talk about this Dosh and say that there is no need to worry about this Dosh as some of the renowned personalities like Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, famous bangle writer Sh. Rabindra Nath Tagore and eminent singer Lata Mangeshkar Ji had this Dosh in their horoscope. Now to ensure that the Kaal-Sarpa Dosh really exists in the person’s horoscope, a simple method is followed. The person’s chart placement of planets is looked at from an anti-clockwise direction. If Rahu is the first planet to occur followed by the seven remaining planets and Ketu follows last, then the person’s horoscope is understood to have the Kaal-Sarpa Dosh. Another important thing to note here is that any planet where Rahu is posted should have degrees more than Rahu. Let’s say in Gemini the position of Rahu is at 15 degrees, if Mars is also there, its position should be more than 15 degrees. In a similar way where Ketu is posted, if other planets are also present, they should have degrees less than Ketu. For example, say Ketu is in Sagittarius and has 15 degrees, and then if Moon is placed in Sagittarius, it should have degrees less than 15. If these conditions occur than say with absolute surety that Kaal-Sarpa Dosh is present in the person’s horoscope.
