!! KABBADI KABBADI KABBADI I! ========================= I was a Lt Cdr and and Ex O of INS Bedi. KAKA SHARMA ============= Our biggest boss was Commodore Kaka Sharma, Naval Officer in Charge Bombay. Kaka was also my Ships Commander INS Mysore, 9 yrs back space WNC ==== I was tasked by the Western Naval Command (WNC) to conduct KABBADI tournament. WNC made BIG MISTAKE. Kaka summoned me to his Office and also made me non playing Captain of the Team of the Ships of NOIC (B). Kaka was a perfect born Leader. He had a knack for running HAPPY SHIPS. That is why I happy. He told me “Nandu, Kabaddi is a game close to my heart. In my school days, my team never lost......” That was enough Order for me. I knew NOTHING about Kabaddi. I always knew nothing about everything. KABBADI TOURNAMENT REPORT =========================== I went to sports ground as O i/c, Conductor of WNC Kabbadi tournament. All the referees were Navy PT and Sports Ustaads. One Ustaad was a Chief Petty Officer (CPO). Familiar face. I told him “Chief Saab aapko I have seen before.” He told me “Yes Sir, I am CPO Umed Singh. I was your PT Ustaad when you were a Cadet in Delta Sqn, NDA. You was the best PT Cadet in your course. Lekin aap ka haath fracture ho gayaa thaa, varna.... ” That introduction was enough and I knew straight away NOIC Kaka Sharma Team will destroy the Enemy opposite teams. We both hatched a wicked plan. When my team in danger, referee will blow whistle and disqualify everyone who was threat to my team. In reality, our team was a very average team. I told the sailors “Aap boys, just play the game, leave the rest to me.” In the early stage of the tournament, Kaka came to watch a match. He was astonished his team won against a strong team. It was clear to him that Nandu had a hidden hand..... He asked me: “Nandu, how did we win?” I replied “Sir, War games tactics I learned in Tactical School. It is all about WINNING ATTITUDE”! I rambled on and told him how we used to train in NDA sports and games and not to worry. Kaka stroked his beard and left a dazed man. CHANAKYA GIRI ALLOWED IN WAR ============================= Why do we encourage Troop Games in Armed Forces? To build WINNING ATTITUDE, when War starts. War can start any day. THE REFEREES ============= CPO Umed Singh had strong influence over all junior PT Ustaads Referees. So all blew whistle against our opponents in all matches. Our boys could break ALL rules and no whistle. NOTES OF PROTEST AGAINST NANDU =============================== Naturally complaints went up the Navy Triangle. It was Chankya giri after all. Allowed! Even complaints went to my CO, Lt Cdr AK Sharma! How disgusting! Frivolous cry baby complaints against Nandu! CHANAKYA WNC KABBADI FINALS ============================ Our team reached the Finals. Easy. All Commanding Officers of 18th Minesweeping Squadron came and opposite team CO/XO Officers came. Naturally, CPO Umed Singh, PT Ustaad, I appointed as the Referee for the Mother of all Kabaddi matches. UMED SCARED ============ Umed came to me and whispered in my ears “Saab, meri Naukri Khatre Mein Hain....” I was jolted ...... I went to Commodore Kaka Sharma, saluted smart and asked his permission to start the Mother of all Kabbadi Match. Kaka gave permission .....then I whispered in Kaka’s ear. What Kaka whispered in my ear is PRIVILEGED INFORMATION. I then told Ustaad Umed Singh to start the Game. I whispered in Umed ears..... MOTHER OF ALL KABBADI MATCHES STARTS ==================================== Funny. At half time we were LOSING!! Opposite team was strutting like they Champions at half time. Second half, whistle started blowing fast and furious AGAINST Enemy team! 2 minutes before time, CPO Umed Singh declared match finished and Kaka Sharma team won Kabaddi Trophy by margin of few Chanakya points! PRIZE DISTRIBUTION ================= Whole Western Naval Command was in shock after Kaka team won, including Kaka. No problems. I was Master of Ceremonies also. Very quickly I wrapped up prize distribution ceremony. Only WINNING team I called to take Prizes. Losing team was sulking anyway. Not in mood to take their Runners up Prize. There was no time to lose else losing team will lodge NOTE OF PROTEST. I told my wicked dashing Gunnery Officer Arjun Veer Singh of INS Bedi, to quickly call Staff Car of Chief Guest and Commanding Officers. All wrapped up, I disappeared fast from Sports Ground PROLOGUE ========== Next day I went to Commodore Kaka Sharma Office. I told him “Sir, Chief Petty Officer Umed Singh we got to take care...” Kaka Sharma, told me “Nandu, Umed Singh yes. But who will take care of you? You rascal ...asdfg.....qwert......yuiop” I was adamant mood happy for Ustaad Umed. His Naukri safe. Kaka gravely stroked his beard and said. “Your tenure in Western Naval Command is over. I will get you transferred to National Defence Academy. Pack up.”! True Story
