KADUNA BOMBINGS: PDP EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO GOD FOR SAVING BUHARI`S LIFE The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed gratitude to God for saving the lives of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi whose convoys are affected in the July 23 bombings in Kaduna. This is contained in a statement issued by the party`s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday. The statement condemned in strong terms the bombings which claimed the lives of many innocent Nigerians and described the attacks as `dastardly and unfortunate’. ``The party, while mourning the dead, joins all well meaning Nigerians in thanking God for saving the lives of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. ``We sincerely sympathise with Gen. Buhari. Our hearts go out to him and all those affected in these wicked attacks,” the statement stated. It stated that the PDP was shocked by the development and called on all Nigerians to unite against acts of terrorism irrespective of ethnic, political and religious affiliations. The statement pointed out that with the Kaduna bombing, it had become clear that every Nigerian could be a target of terror attack. It cautioned opposition leaders to be careful with their utterances regarding the unfortunate incident, and stressed the need for Nigerians to unite for the nation to win the war against terror. It appealed to the security agencies to ensure thorough investigation into the attacks and also intensify their efforts in fight against insurgency. A statement signed by Buhari said the attack was an assassination attempt on his life. Buhari stated that he escaped unhurt, while his security details sustained injuries. ``I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo, Kaduna, on my way to Daura,’’ Buhari said.
