KAI VOWS TO KEEP ILLEGAL TRADERS OFF ROADS The Lagos State Ministry for the Environment, through its law enforcement unit, the KAI Brigade, has vowed to sustain the demolition of illegal structures, such as shanties, counters and containers erected on major roads by street traders and prevent them from coming back to their illegal trades. The KAI Administrator, Mr. Onipede Amos, who disclosed this in his Office, at Alausa, Ikeja stated that his men have been positioned in major parts of the metropolis like Ikeja, Oshodi, Apapa, Surulere, Yaba, Ikorodu Road, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Agege and other areas in the State to prevent the traders from coming back to the streets. Onipede, who was recently appointed as the Acting KAI Brigade Administrator, assured that the Agency is ready to ensure that these illegal traders are prevented from returning back to the major streets after been dislodged unlike previous occasions. He noted that since the demolition of illegal structures on some major roads, the impact of the exercise is already yielding fruit as motorists and commuters are now enjoying free flow of traffic. While reiterating that government would not fold its arm while some people continue to perpetrate illegal activities on major roads, the KAI Administrator warned residents of the State to desist from anything that could constitute environmental nuisance as the present administration will not handle such with levity.
