KARTEL FANS LOBBY WHITE HOUSE An online petition to the Barack Obama-led administration for the retrial of incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel was removed from the White Houses website on Monday. Fans created the petition, three days after Kartel was found guilty of the 2011 murder of Clive Lizard Williams. The petition, which was posted on a section of the White Houses website called, We the People stated: Jamaican Dancehall Artiste Vybz Kartel did not get the fair trial he deserved. Evidence has been tampered with in his case by the law enforcement of Jamaica. He was found guilty before his trial started. Everyone deserves a fair trial whether they reside in the US or not. United States needs to investigate the corruption in this case. We the People whose tagline is Giving all Americans a way to engage their government on issues that matter to them, was created in 2011 by the Obama administration to give Americans the opportunity to petition the current administrations policy experts. If the petitions met a certain quota of signatures, it would be reviewed by officials in the administration and an official response would be issued. petition According to the website, the petition was removed under their Moderation Policy because it was in violation of their Terms of Participation. Before the petition was removed, however, the fans received a total of 480-signatures out of the 100,000 it would have required to be reviewed. But even if the fans had reached the required quota, their efforts would have been in vain. Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewelyn told THE STAR that the United States could not intervene in the matter because it is not within their jurisdiction. The fact of the matter is that any case, in a jurisdiction subject to the rule of law of that jurisdiction, a petition to any other state would have no relevance, she said.
