KATHMANDU, NOV 20 - Nepal lost against Netherlands by five wicket s in their match at the ICC World Twenty 20 Qualifiers played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE on Wednesday. Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepali batsmen came under pressure right from the beginning as they lost wicket s at regular intervals. Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla top scored with 44 runs while hero in yesterdays match against Papua New Guinea, Binod Bhandari, made 29 runs. There were no significant contributions from the other batsmen as they failed to reach double figures. Chasing 108 runs, Netherlands made a steady start and built partnerships throughout the innings as they overhauled the Nepali target in 16.2 over losing five wicket s in the process. With todays loss, Nepal now have three wins from five matches. Earlier they beat Denmark by five wicket s in the tournament opener before a thrilling win over Kenya on Saturday. They lost to Scotland in their third match before thrashing Papua New Guinea by seven wicket s in their match yesterday. Nepal are pitted in Group B with Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea, Denmark and Kenya. Nepal will have to finish in the top six of the 16-nation tournament to qualify for the ICC World Twenty 20 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh next year.
