KEEPING YOUR STUDENT SAFE ONLINE: AN INTERNET SAFETY NIGHT Presented by Rick Warner - Special Agent Supervisor with the Ohio Attorney General. With the new 1-1 chromebook initiative, parents are encouraged to attend this informative presentation which is designed especially for parents who may be just a little nervous, confused, or overwhelmed with this whole internet thing. Schools have been increasingly incorporating online components into homework, grade reporting, research, and projects. Young people in general seem to embrace every new device and social media innovation that comes along. There are hundreds of good reasons for your child to explore the possibilities offered by the internet, but there is also a reason for concern if your student surfs the web without direction or supervision. Where: RHS Auditorium When: October 8th 6:30 Why: To educate parents in simple to understand techniques for keeping their children safe online Who: Mr. Warner is a father of two Leroy students and has been in law enforcement for the last 14 years. He has served with the Lake Co. Sheriff’s Office, Waite Hill Police Dept., Cuyahoga Co. Prosecutor’s Office, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation – Cyber Crimes Unit. During his time with the Crimes Against Children Unit he conducted online undercover investigations and supported and instructed local law enforcement with those investigative techniques. In February of 2014 he was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor of the Cyber Crimes Unit.
