KILL THE SPINDER Heb.12:1 Once, I read a story on a christian who attended church services weekly. Each sunday, he knelt down in deep contrition and prayed Lord remove the cobwebs in my life Fed up with his prayer, the pastor knelt down next to him as he prayed one sunday. As usual the man prayed, Lord, please remove the cobwebs in my life. The pastor shoulted into his ears Please Lord, also, kill the spinder in this mans life. In Heb.12:1, the scripture calls us to lay down the weight and the sin that traps/entangles us so often. For this reason, as we are circled by so great a cloud of witnesses, putting off every weight, and the sin into which we come so readily, let us keep on running in the way which is marked out for us Time is up for the christians living in sin to kill the spinder rather than struggle with cobwebs. Of course the scripture says For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Rom.3:23. But whereas there is no bigger or smaller sin, there exists two types of sinners:1. A perpetual sinner(living and thriving in sin), 2. Sinners whose sins have been forgiven (No longer living in sin). However, its fascinating that some brethren who were called and spared for the kindom of heaven have slid back to sin chosing to spare the spinder and deal with the cobwebs. A spicies of mondern preachers is encouranging town dwellers to live as you wish but repent every sunday. Others have opted for a dual personality (the public personality-what we seem to be, and, the individual/private personality-what we really are)! I have always wondered why prophet Micaiah in 1 Kings 22:25 would tell Zedekiah Truly, you will see on that day when you go into an inner room When Zedekiah is lonely in his inner room, he would know that he was not a true prophet-as he seemed to king Ahab! Once we kill the spinders in our life, once we lay off any weight that slows us down we are able to exhibit Christ in our private lives as is in our public lives!
