KIMBERLEY POLICE ARREST PAKISTANI MEN WITH ABALONE SAPS Kimberley Crime Prevention Unit and Flying Squad members arrested two Pakistani men for illegal possession of abalone and transportation of abalone. The estimated street value of the confiscated abalone is R76 000. Police received a tip-off about a white Toyota bakkie travelling on N12 from Cape Town in the direction of Kuruman via Kimberley. The police patrolled and blocked all the roads leading to Kimberley. At approximately 12:00 the police spotted the vehicle fitting the description which they were forewarned about and pulled it off the road on R31 near Kimberley. Upon investigation three black refuse bags filled with abalone weighing 76kg were discovered loaded in the back of the bakkie. The suspect aged 40 and 31 are detained in police custody and will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The Kimberley Cluster Commander Major General Jean Abrahams, praised the community for their active participation in the fight against crime. The police can only win the war against crime when the police and the public work together. She also praised police members for responding vigilantly and swiftly after receiving the information.
