KUDOs TO NCDU (WOMEN WING) I want to use this opportunity and Forum to extend my warmest felicitations and gratitude to the Executives of NCDU-Women Wing, on their ‘Nkpa Peace’ initiative on June 28th, 2014 at Amaohoro Hall, Nkpa. This shows their hearts desire for a peaceful, progressive and united Nkpa. Their agenda was straight forward and simple-‘PEACE IN NKPA’ Though, I expected more prominent Nkpa Sons & Daughters attendance, but those who were there achieved much towards the objective of the meeting. I congratulate the NCDU Women Wing for their courage and telling their husbands, sons & daughters the home truth..that there is NO peace in Nkpa, politically, socially, culturally and otherwise. Their 10 points agenda for achieving peace was unanimously adopted, except for minor adjustments, here and there. I hope a communiqué on the resolutions will be made available to each village chairman, for dissemination to their general assembly asap. My observation on the outcome of this meeting was that over the years, there has been some lack of communications between or within our prominent Sons/daughters, elites, etc either in politics or otherwise. I discovered that NCDU cannot solve these issues alone because of her mandate, as a development organ for Nkpa, Ndi Ohuabali forum cannot solve it, also because they are there to resolve individual/village disputes. I have come to the conclusion that; Nkpa needs a ‘WELFARE UNION’, just as we have Umuimenyi Welfare Union, whose mandate should be to interact on quarterly basis or emergency situations to resolve political misunderstandings for Nkpa’s progress. This Nkpa Welfare Union should be made up of 2/3 persons from each village of Nkpa, irrespective of size or population, to be chosen by each village only, and cannot be changed by either the body or NCDU, but only by the villages concerned, as the case maybe. Membership should not have tenure, but villages can add or remove a representative through death, health challenges, senility or others. Members of The Welfare Union, should be men/women of timber and caliber, with strong progressive ideas & ideals. They will not be executive members of NCDU or villages. They should be independent-minded and have love and care of Nkpa. They will act as advisory body on politics to NCDU and not interfere in administrative duties of NCDU Exco. If we have such a welfare union, all misunderstandings and acrimonious among our elites will reduce substantially because they will be talking to themselves and within themselves for Nkpa’s Progress. The union will eandeavour to imbibe in our politicians to stop thinking of politics as a means of self-aggrandisement, but see it as a means of selfless service to Ndi Nkpa and meaningful progress can be achieved. There were 2 major amendments to the resolutions presented by NCDU Women Wing, which were amended, rectified and adjusted by all present. The amendment by Hon. Justice S. N. Imoh (OFR), that NCDU General should be a ‘coordinating organ’ for all other village unions in Nkpa, which was adopted by all. The second point was the need for ‘Nkpa Constitution’ to be made available to all villages, as guiding light, which was also unanimously adopted. Rev. Chukwuemeka Adiele (Dep. Sup.AGM-Ukwa District) who moderated the meeting was very brilliant and showed that he is a true Man of God and Son of Nkpa. My gratitude to him and other ministers present for their divine prayers for Nkpa. At the end of the meeting, the camaraderie amongst our elites present, whom many had assumed were ‘mortal enemies’, needed to be seen by all. It goes to show that, there is truly and deep down desire from each one of us , the love for our community-Nkpa, it just needed a little effort, as shown and done by our women and God’s Grace to achieve it. I sincerely believe that, JUNE 28th, 2014, will be remembered in the annals of Nkpa’s history, a day Unity resurrected like the phoenix of old Greek legend. Please, let us sustain this peace movement and believe me, unprecedented peace and progress will come to Nkpa. NDEWU NU-NDI NKPA Nb: Please you are free to add or subtract from my submissions.
