KURFI YOUTH MEETING MINUTES, HELD ON FRIDAY 16/8/2013. The meeting pulled traaction with a large number of attendees who defied the heavy rain and turned out in time. After the opening prayer by Murtala Ibrahim Sadiq, the meeting began with the long introductory speech by M. Sirajo Umar kurfi re-stating the need for an organised youth movement in the locality. Reflecting on the previous session, M. Sirajo Umar reminded the attendees of the solidarity visit paid by some like-minded youth from Dutsinma local govt. M. Sirajo also spoke on the essence of mobilsing youth to speak with one voice in all matters related to politics and society in general. In his words "we need an organised movement to confront issues like employment, leadership, elections and all other societal problems" while giving example with the present blackout in the locality. He then moved a motion that the organisation shall take a neutral rather than partisan stance, in its name, mission and objectives. The motion was seconded by all, and as such, saw the need for the establishment of two adhoc committes; that will steer the organisation and draft a constitution. This motion however, superceded the resolution made in the previous meeting, that concentrated on partisan movement. After much deliberation, all have agreed to form the steering committee with the following nominations; 1. M. Siraajo umar- chaairman 2. Ibrahim muhammad- secretary 3. Lasbada isyaku- treasurer 4. Mannir Garba- financial secretary 5. Zaharadden Kabir- PRO 1 6. Mustapha usman- PRO 2 Speaking on the nominations, Nuradden Muazu stressed on the need to control the treasury with trust. In another development, Mustapha Usman suggested the use of facebook group as a way of keeping all members posted. On the constitution draft commitee, all attendees have agreed to nominate and assign the following people to draft a constitution that will reflects the interest of the youth, with a 4 weeks ultimatum. 1. Bishir kado(chairman) 2. Ibrahim murtala sadiq 3. Bashir bala 4. Hamza kabir 5. Ibrahim muhammad Zaharadden kabir offered a swift advice to the committee, that they should come up with a name of the organiaation that envisaged both social and poltical meanings. Bishir Amadi suggested the name to be "kurfi youth transformation forum" where as M. Sirajo umar opined for a brief and concise name. Mustapha usman also urged the committee to make sure that the draft aligns with islamic provisions. In what appeared to be as an objection to mustapha usman call on the need to invite many people into the organisation, M. Ghali muazu emphasized that the organisation must be full-pledged first, before being peddled to all youth. He warned tha "too many cooks may spoil the broth". He also hoped that the organisation will be sustained, different from some previously short-lived associations in the locality. Bishir kado, as the final speaker, chipped in a couple of suggestions. First, he cautioned all members against inviting opportunistic people. Second, he urged the leaders to fear God and consider the whole commitments as sacrificial, and lastly, warned all attendees not to misconstrue the true meaning of the movement. In the absence of questions/suggestions, the meeting was adjourned until 15/9/2013 by M. Sirajo umar, seconded by sadiq Abdulkadir. A closing prayer was given by M. shuaibu Bawa.
