KYLE McAUSLAND hopes he can get back into the Rangers team this weekend to continue his remarkable run of good form against East Fife. The youngster was a standout against the Methil-based outfit last season during his loan spell at Ayr United. In 24 games for the Honest Men, McAusland scored three times last season and all of his goals were against the Fifers. They came in three separate fixtures – a 3-2 away win, a reverse by the same score at home and a 3-3 draw. The 20-year-old dropped out of the side last time out against Berwick after starting the 6-0 victory at Airdrieonians last Friday. But he’d love to come back into the first XI to add to his other start in 2013/14 against Albion Rovers in the Ramsdens Cup. McAusland told RangersTV: “It’s one of those funny things that I happened to score in three different games against East Fife. “It was just the case that the ball broke to me on those occasions and I was lucky enough to score my goals. “You don’t really realise it’s the same team you’re scoring against until afterwards and you look back at it at the end of the season. “I’ve got good memories from playing against East Fife so long may that continue. I’d love to be in the side again this weekend. “I’ve spoken a few times to one of their players, Liam Buchanan, who I played with at Ayr last season and it’ll be a game. “They’ve got Scott Durie in their side as well and from what I’ve heard, they’re a good, well-organised team.” Despite being in and out of the side so far this term, McAusland is content with the way his campaign has panned out up to now. As well as those two starts, he has made appearances as a substitute in the four other competitive games thus far against Forfar, Brechin, Stranraer and Berwick. Now, with eight new signings about to be registered and therefore become eligible to play each week, he hopes to remain in manager Ally McCoist’s thoughts. McAusland added: “I think I’ve done okay when I’ve come in. That has been pleasing for me and hopefully the coaches feel the same. “I know it’s going to be really hard come September 1 when everyone is available but hopefully I’ll still be there or thereabouts.”
