Kacys pre transplant appointment really just consisted of meeting the transplant coordinator and walking through the first steps of many. Her kidney function has been declining and she is solidly in stage 4 kidney failure. This is no surprise for us. The whole point of following her so closely is to work toward a preemptive surgery...one that is planned and requires NO dialysis. So...in January we will proceed with meeting the transplant team and will start the process of working up Tim and I to see if we are matches for her. At the same time Kacy will have her blood work and all of her tests done. Going in this direction is not scary...it is a relief to get our ducks in a row, to have a plan in place, to know who her donor will be, and to actually be able to plan when this will happen. YES...Im also well aware that things can go askew. That the best laid plans can go awry. But for now we are proceeding as if we are in control of this process. Cause right now...WE ARE. So no worries...Kacy is still the same kid. Her kidney function is poor, but she is stable and still doing what she always does. Thanks for all the well wishes. Its all good.
