Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 Ajax Cape Town: Musona beats in-form Jaakkola with two superb goals Knowledge Musona netted two late goals to help Chiefs to a 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night Kaizer Chiefs came into this league encounter undefeated at home under Stuart Baxter since last season, and they were looking to maintain that record while at the same time stretching their lead at the top of the PSL standings. Ajax Cape Town looked very shaky at the back, and Chiefs should have at least been 2-0 up inside the half-hour mark. Knowledge Musona had two great chances to put AmaKhosi in the lead, but none of his attempts could trouble Anssi Jaakkola. Morris fired from the right hand side of the Chiefs penalty area in the 18th minute, but Reyaad Pieterse made a fantastic block to deny Roger de Sas side the opener. Musona was at it again, and this time he combined with Kingston Nkhatha outside the box, but his shot went wide of Jaakkolas goal as AmaKhosi pressed forward quite often. Aiden Jenniker nearly scored an own goal a few minutes later after he tried to play a back-pass to Jaakkola, but the Ajax goalkeeper recovered in time to clear off the line. Chiefs thretened to take the lead in the 44th minute after some brilliant passing that involved Letsholonyane and Musona, but the log leaders had too many touches inside the box and allowed Jaakkola to make a save. Musona wasted a glorious chance just before halftime, as he failed to take advantage of Jaakkolas error and his left-footed effort was eventually cleared off the line with the Ajax keeper in no mans land. Chiefs were on the front foot again after the restart and nearly found the back of the net through Tefu Mashamaite whose powerful header was brilliantly saved by Jaakkola after 52 minutes of play. On 55 minutes, Siphiwe Tshabalala rifled from inside the box, but his thunderous shot struck the framework as AmaKhosi continued to put their opponents under a lot of pressure. The home side thought they had taken the lead in the 63rd minute, but Mashamaite was penalised for using his hand to set up Nkhatha. Two minutes later, Keagan Dolly tested Pieterse with a well taken shot from distance, and the Chiefs keeper dived to his right to make a great save. Nkhatha found himself with only the keeper to beat in the 70th minute, but the Zimbabwean forward was brilliantly denied by Jaakkola, who made himself big to concede a corner. Pieterse fumbled Cecil Lolos shot with 15 minutes to go, but the AmaKhosi shot-stopper made amends, denying Eleazer Rodgers what should have been an easy goal from close range. Knowledge Musona finally got himself on the scoresheet with five minutes remaining, after beating Ajax for pace before chipping it over Jaakkola to the relief of the AmaKhosi fans. Musona grabbed his second of the night in the 90th minute from George Lebeses floating cross into the Ajaxs penalty to ensure that AmaKhosi extended their lead to six points at the summit of the PSL log.
