Kak Makara was born with severe intestinal problems which made him - TopicsExpress

Kak Makara was born with severe intestinal problems which made him a very unusual baby. His intestines are very weak, resulting in frequent, chronic constipation. When he was only two years old, doctors at the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital performed an operation to improve his condition. However, this first operation was not sufficient for him to fully recover, so Makara has been in and out of surgery for all of the four years since. He is now six years old, and has undergone ten big operations. Makara’s parents, Mr. Kak Ey and Mrs. Chap Chanthou, did not dare hope nor expect that he could still be alive today. With many financial woes threatening even an ordinary existence, Makara’s parents could not afford to purchase anti-inflammatory cream to put around the site of the lesion; they appealed to charitable organizations and others’ generosity to help their little son. Currently, they are living in Sanloung Village, in the Svay Luong Commune of Kandearng District (Pursat Province). Having learned of their plight, H.E. Oknha Dr. Mengly J. Quach provided for Mr. Kak Ey and Mrs. Chap Chanthou to take their son to Phnom Penh for proper treatment, covering all expenses including accommodation, food and the cost of the medical treatment itself. After their arrival in Phnom Penh, Makara was quickly referred to the Mengly J. Quach Student Health Center for an initial assessment and immediate medical care. Dr. Mengly also provided extra anti-inflammatory cream for Makara to use around the site of the surgery and to help settle his ulcer inflammation, as well as a cash donation of 400,000 Riels to Makara and his parents so that Makara can receive the proper care that he needs in the comfort of his own home. Mr. Kak Ey and Mrs. Chap Chanthou are very grateful for all the help on behalf of their son, Makara, and wish H.E. Oknha Dr. Mengly J. Quach, Lok Chumteav Lyhong Ung and their children all the best.
