Kanaka Ho’i, a movement by the Hawaiian people (defined here as the descendants of the original people of Hawaii, pre Cook) to organize and establish a governing entity. Vision: A governing entity, created by the descendants of the original inhabitants of the Hawaiian Islands to manage the affairs and resources of Hawaii for their benefit and well being. Mission: To implement a governing entity based on a constitution created and ratified by the majority of our people. Objectives: 1. Education 2. Decision making on what we want 3. Decide on who can participate 4. Register participants 5. Draft a governing document with the people 6. Ratify the document 7. Hold elections according to the document Process Our approach is organized into four workshops that are formatted to guide the Hawaiian people thru a process of education, decision making and implementation. Kalaimana’o The first workshop will introduce vision, mission and the process. In this first gathering the discussion will center on what has happened to our government, what are our options and how do we achieve them. Who can participate in this process will be discussed, defined and agreed to allowing for registration to participation can begin. Kaukau Olelo In workshop two the discussion will center on drafting a governing document based on discussions in workshop One. Koho Kumukanawai The governing document will be ratified by registered participants. Koho The registered participants will hold elections in accordance with the ratified document.
