Kansas: the republican governor boasted for years that their method of NOT taxing small businesses and extremely reducing taxes for larger businesses would be the perfect example of how the republican partys economic policies are the best way for America to go. They thought it would bring businesses to the state, and would decrease their unemployment rate. In fact, his goal was to eliminate income taxes altogether. (Exactly how did he plan on paying for things?). Now: Kansas is broke. Without the necessary taxes, they have defunded their public schools and several other public services because they do not have enough money to pay their bills. Their revenue continues to decline faster than any other state (except one), job growth lags behind the rest of the country, and Moodies has downgraded their credit rating. A lot of the public schools have closed, resulting in small towns being devastated because people have to move away so their kids can go to school....which causes local businesses to lose income, housing markets to crash, etc. The Kansas Supreme Court has ruled that the state has violated its constitution by under funding its schools.
