Kapilavastu According to Buddhist tradition, Kapilavastu is the name of the ancient city where Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the Buddha, was raised and lived until the age of 29, when he renounced worldly life. Buddha grew up in the Kapilavastu spending the first years of his life as a prince of the Sakya kingdom. Kapilavastu is the most meaningful of the Buddhist sites to me because that is where the Siddhartha made up his mind to leave the palace and go out into the world without any possessions in search of a way to relief people from suffering. Kapilavastu in Nepal is approximately 27 km by road from Lumbini. We just visited this historical and sacred place to celebrate Ivans birthday... All in wonderful Nepal.
