Karaite meeting this Thursday in Jerusalem This weeks Karaite meeting will take place: DATE: Thursday 18 December TIME: 7:00 PM PLACE: Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Jerusalem, on Agron St. near the corner of David HaMelech St. (When you walk into the hotel, you will see the main lobby / atrium in front you. Walk straight ahead, all the way to the back of the lobby, and we will be situated on the last set of couches to the right.) TOPIC: Last week we had a great meeting on the topic of Ger, so a big thank to those who attended. This week, we will study the topic of Hannukah by looking at the Books of Macabees I & II. Was there an oil miracle, or was it all made up by the Rabbis? What really happened during the events surrounding Hannukah? Should we be lighting Hannukah menorahs or is their origin pagan in nature? These are some of the questions we will discuss at tomorrows meeting. WHO CAN ATTEND: Anybody who defines him/herself as Karaite / Scripturalist / Tanach Only, or who is interested in learning more about Karaism is welcome to attend.
