This has left her with thousands of dollars of healthcare debt from co-pays and deductibles. Karen received 6 sessions of Chemo (3 weeks each), and 52 radiation treatments over a span of 24 weeks. With God’s blessings and this very aggressive treatment, the March 2014 PET results showed Karen’s body to be cancer free. Karen‘s Oct 2014 PET scan also came back clean (cancer free)!!!! Please continue to pray for Karen, this next test and the following 4 ½ years of testing are critical to Karen’s long term health. Karen lost her State of Michigan job after her 6 months of unpaid medical leave expired. Her family and friends have been paying her health insurance payments so she could complete her cancer treatments. During Karen’s cancer treatment, it has been found that the polluted water at Camp Lejeune is at least a contributor to Karen’s lung cancer. The US military was aware of the polluted water for over 35 years and did nothing to correct the situation, instead they covered it up. Six months ago, Karen was told that the VA would make a final determination on VA Disability Retirement request within 6 to 8 months. After waiting 6 months Karen was then told that it could take an the year or longer due to lack of resources and the high number of vets coming forward with disabilities. Please contact your US Congress Person, and Senator to request them to check into the backlog of Camp Lejeune cases. Karen’s furnace failed earlier this month (October 2-14) and had to be replaced. Karen has taken out a $4,000 loan for the furnace and its installation.
