Karl Denninger asks: A Question For All Americans From the Washington Post: A new Reuters/Ipsos poll has finally found something that Americans like even less than Congress: the possibility of U.S. military intervention in Syria. Only 9 percent of respondents said that the Obama administration should intervene militarily in Syria; a RealClearPolitics poll average finds Congress has a 15 percent approval rating, making the country’s most hated political body almost twice as popular. I will note that about 40% of the population supported the King of England in 1776. Quick history lesson: That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Does 9% approval constitute "Consent of the governed" when we are about to kill other humans in the name of the people of the United States? Are you ready to go on strike yet America? Yes, a general strike. Silence is consent. Without your willingness to fund this foolishness, directly and indirectly via supporting the credit quality of the United States and paying taxes this act of killing could not happen. War is, in some cases, justified. But 91% of the population of this country says that in this case, at this time, it is not justified. Do you mean it or did you lie to the pollster and actually support the killing that is about to take place in your name?
