Karl It begins in the beginning, as all things do, when our good King Akbar, on his sixteenth summer, claimed these Eastern Lands and became our king and thereafter, our first Duke. He served well, with strength and wisdom and did forever place himself in the halls of memory as Knight and King and Count and Duke. His word fame spread amongst the populace and warriors from every corner of the Realm sought his knowledge. They beg that he train them and teach them. They wanted to learn all that he knew of the art of combat, and service. His Grace looked about him at the young and hopeful and saw his destiny change from combatant and ruler to trainer and teacher. He agreed to take on this role as mentor and in doing so took squires. One such young squire was known as Siegfried. With natural speed and strength he flourished under Akbars training. Driven by will and desire he fought all who stood before him and soon claimed the Eastern throne as his own. In his wisdom, King Siegfried asked the Baroness, Morgan Elandris to be the first woman warlord of the East. With plans of her devising he became the first successful Eastern King to march across the Debatable Lands and defeat the dragon at the tenth Pennsic war. The word fame of Siegfried spread to the far reaches of the East and beyond. He earned many chapters in our halls of memory as Knight and King and Count and Duke. But his Grace was not alone, for he founded the great Haus Von Halstern and within that house he had a brother. And his brothers name was Feral. Feral Von Halsterns gifts proved to be, not only in single combat, but that of melee and war. He learned all that his brother had to teach him and improved upon these skills through trial and error. Taking what he had learned, he traveled to the cold North and created his household known as Haus Silver Dragon. There, he established himself as Warlord, commander and strategist. He, a founder of the Great Northern Army, led many successful campaigns for the East. Obtaining the rank of Master-at-Arms, he took many squires and dedicated himself to their development. So successful was Ferals teachings, that he became known as Kingmaker, for his squires went on to become Knights, masters, Viscounts, Counts, Dukes, Princes and Kings and to create their own great tales of word fame. One such legend began when the cold Northern wind brought forth a dark horse... Lucan von Drachenklaue. Wild and reckless, untamed and fearless. To his friends, he was known as “Lucan The Great”, but to his foes, he was “Lucan The Terrible” and his enemies trembled at his feet. Acknowledged, loved, feared and hated, renowned and notorious… His name was spoken in all tongues, and he was known to all kingdoms across the world. As war king, Lucan drove back the Dragon, as Duke, he served as warlord for his brethren Kings. He willingly traveled to foreign lands and led more successful campaigns than can be counted. Because he never failed to fight shoulder to shoulder with those devoted to the East, loyalty to him, grew. His word fame, baptize in the blood of battle, called to the hearts of others. His household expanded and became known throughout the world as the grand, Duchy Von Drachenklaue. In his time, Lucan trained hundreds and of those most loyal, he took as squires. And one of his squires was Beowulf. Beowulf Meerstoppa, a student of the old ways, a Northman and a warrior most fierce. Beo believed in good and became a protector of the weak. As a warning to those who would do evil, Beo strapped the left arm of his enemy to the rafters in the great hall Von Drachenklaue. Its gruesome remains still hang there to strike fear into the hearts of those whod dare hurt any under the protection of the Duchy. His skill and leadership brought him the accolade of chivalry and he became known as Master Beowulf Meerstoppa, forever securing his memory in our hall of heroes. In his time, he followed in the footsteps of those before him, the once student became teacher. Favouring those of the left, he took squires, creating a branch of Akbars line, most sinister. But one squire was not of the left hand. Karl Meerstoppa was of the right. One could say that Karl was the only right squire of the Beo line... Karl Meerstoppa, soft spoken off the field, gentle and wise in the courtly pursuit, but most ferocious with sword and shield. Karl, first to the battlefield, last to leave, shield surfer, shoulder walker, leader among men. Karl is a peers peer in council, a man of common sense and calm in the face of panic. Thoughtful and insightful. He has served as royal guard for nearly two decades, protected many Queens and has taught others to follow suit. Karl Meerstoppa, a quiet gem in the Eastern Crown. His page in our history and in the lineage of Akbar is far from complete, but upon this 17th day of January, he is recognized as Eastern Chivalry .
