Karla Downing When other people tell us NO when we try to make them do what we think they need to do to become sober, responsible, motivated, faithful, caring, and healthy, we have to respect their right to say no. Take this as their answer. The person is not willing to change. The next focus is me: What do I need to do now to take care of myself ? Jesus first question to the invalid lying at the Pool of Bethsada was Do you want to get well? (John 5:6). As much as we want the people we love to get better, they have to want it for themselves first. We cannot push someone to do it. If someone does it to please us or someone else, it won’t last until the person owns it. Hebrew for Christians Truth is heavy, therefore few wear it .... This is about inner honesty, about owning who we are and being willing to endure ourself as we learn to walk with God. Where it is written You shall love the stranger as yourself (Lev. 19:34), understand that this also applies to the stranger within ourselves, that is, to those aspects of ourselves we hide, deny, or reject. Like the prodigal son, we have to come to ourselves to return home (Luke 15:17), yet we cant do that without trusting that love is somehow available to us, even with those hidden parts of ourselves we seek to escape. That is the great risk of trusting in Gods love for your soul. The secret parts of ourselves that we hide need to be brought to the light, confessed, healed, and reconciled. And may God deliver us from self-hatred, in the Name and passion of Yeshua (Jesus), and His great love. I hope everyone will just pause for just a few minutes .... give yourself the next ten minutes with God . complete and total honesty with trust that Father God loves you right where you are ... just as you really are ... I am not posting this to see how many people will like it ... If nobody likes it , but it helps just one person ... That person and myself are greatly blessed ...
