Kashmir despatch 02.12.14 Mann terms Kashmir elections ‘bogus’ ‘Plebiscite only solution to K-issue’ December 1, 2014 Srinagar, Dec 1 (CNS): Terming the ongoing assembly elections as ‘bogus’, the Punjab-based Sikh organization, Akali Dal President Simranjit Singh Mann Monday said that Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir are an occupying force and plebiscite is “the only possible solution” to the Kashmir problem. Addressing a news conference in Srinagar, Mann said that the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir carry no meaning as all the pro-freedom leaders have been put behind the bars and stopped from propagating their ideology. “These elections have no fun. Neither any International Observer visited Valley nor separatist leaders given a free hand to propagate their ideology,” he said. Mann according to CNS said that Kashmir is an internationally-recognized dispute after New Delhi took the issue to United Nations and the same later passed number of resolution for its settlement. He said that the-then Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru had also promised plebiscite in Kashmir. Mann said that Kashmir “is neither a question of Pakistan or India, but it’s an international question. Prime ministers of both the countries cannot solve it unless they take Kashmiris into confidence.” He said that India claims to be largest democracy on earth but there is nothing like it in its actions. “India is proud of having democracy, then why is it afraid of holding plebiscite in Kashmir? Plebiscite is the most peaceful way to address Kashmir problem,” he said. “Our party is clear about Kashmir. We have no hesitation to say that Kashmir is occupied.” Demanding action against the Indian Army personnel who according to him killed the innocent Sikhs in Chattisingh Pora, Mann said that it were same Army personnel who indulged in innocent killings in Chattisingh Pora and Patribal. He further demanded that flood victims should be rehabilitated without any delay.
