Freshwater finger lakes support Anhingas, wading birds and a variety of waterfowl. The hardwood hammock northeast of the parking lot has migratory songbirds are common in season. The park’s bird list, available at the entrance station, includes a nice mix of forest birds, wading birds and shorebirds. shorebirds, terns and gulls at the beach with occasional sightings of the rarer pelagics including both Parasitic and Pomarine Jaegers, so keep your eyes peeled! Directions: From SR 9A in Jacksonville, take SR 10/Atlantic Blvd. and drive east to SR A1A/Mayport Rd. Turn left (north) on Mayport Rd. and veer right to stay on Mayport Rd./SR 101 when it diverges from SR A1A. Approximately 0.75 mi. after the split, turn right (east) on Wonderwood Dr. The park is straight ahead. From Fort Caroline National Memorial (site #13), follow Mt. Pleasant Rd. south, then east, to Wonderwood Dr. Continue east on Wonderwood Dr. for 3.3 mi. to the park entrance.
