Katie Taylor advanced to within three wins of claiming her 6th successive title at the European Womens Championships in Bucharest, Romania today. The Bray woman beat Switzerlands Sandra Brugger on a unanimous decision in a repeat of the 2007 European final which Taylor won in Denmark. Taylor will now face Ioana Mera Lavina of Romania in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. Earlier today, Belfast bantam Michaela Walsh got Ireland off to a winning start at on a unanimous decision over Helina Bruyevigh (Belarus). Shell now meet 2011 European bronze medallist Ivanna Krupena of the Ukraine in the last-16.
