Kazuo Ishiguro Readies First Novel in 10 Years... Alfred A. Knopf will publish “The Buried Giant,” Kazuo Ishiguro’s seventh novel and his first in nearly a decade, in spring 2015 [in the U.S.]. Mr. Ishiguro’s British publisher, Faber & Faber, announced the forthcoming novel in advance of the London Book Fair, which starts Tuesday. Details about the book remain mysterious. Faber’s website says the book deals with “lost memories, love, revenge and war.” Paul Bogaards, a spokesman for Knopf, said only that the novel was “something of a departure” and that it “took us all by surprise.” Mr. Ishiguro published “Nocturnes,” a collection of novellas, in 2009, but his last novel was the dystopian “Never Let Me Go,” in 2005, about a group of teenagers raised to be organ donors. It was made into a film of the same name in 2010.
