Keep Los Angeles Clean I deeply regret to hear that the City of Glendale unveiled the first “conform women” memorial on public property on the U.S. soil Tuesday. My biggest concern is those who will see the statue may misunderstand history between Japan and South Korea. We must acknowledge the South is manipulating history. First of all, there is no clear evidence that Japan has forced to recruit South Koreans during the war time. In addition, all the matters, including the conform women issue, were settled by a post-war agreement between the two countries. Japan has made significant contributions both financially and technically to South Korea and other Asian countries after the war. With deep remorse, we aimed to have mutual understanding and benefits through cooperation in many fields to develop their nations. It is my deepest regret that the South Korean government intentionally did not disclose what we have done for them to its citizens. The worst part is while the South has been hidden our sincere compensation, they boost anti-Japan sentiment across the country. Glendale is one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles. It was fun to enjoy the calm scenic beauty and visit Glendale Galleria after Thanksgiving, for example. Also I have been enjoying good relations with a number of South Korean friends since college days. Therefore, I am not accusing any particular individuals. The statue completely does not go well with the beautiful city of Glendale. We must prevent our promising children from learning fabricated history. South Korea must stop their selfish and unruly behaviors. The world has already started to know who you are by learning your unaccepted words and deeds at the Olympics, football games, Asiana plane crash and so on.
