Keep Off Jonathan’s Presidential Bid – Group Andrew Ojih Members of Taraba group of concerned citizens have warned the state chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Victor Bala Kona, to steer clear from the purported endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 presidential bid or face the wrath of the group in the state. At a media briefing yesterday in Jalingo, the group’s spokesman, Comrade Silas Japhta, warned the state party chairman to be mindful of his utterances bearing in mind that he has no mandate or authority to speak for the people of the state to single-handedly call for endorsement of President Jonathan on behalf of Tarabans. According to the group, despite their support for Jonathan’s administration over the years, the party chairman should realise that the position of Garba Umar as acting governor remains undoubted as leader of the ruling PDP in the state. The group also warned, for avoidance of doubt, that it was using the medium to make it categorically clear that endorsement of Jonathan by PDP was purely Kona’s perceived ambition and does not capture the support of the people of the state. The spokesman warned that the purported endorsement would, sooner or later, cause civil unrest if extra care was not taken.
