The New York Times has an audience that consists of 39% Independents and 44% Democrats with 71% of their audience considering themselves to be either moderate or liberal in their political views. Conversely, only 13% of their readers consider themselves to be Republican and only 22% consider themselves to be conservative (people-press.org/2012/09/27/section-4-demographics-and-political-views-of-news-audiences/). So, even in a poll conducted by a media source that has an audience that mostly consists of independents and liberals we can still see his approval ratings dropping.
