Keeping a close eye on the tropics tonight as an area of low - TopicsExpress

Keeping a close eye on the tropics tonight as an area of low pressure some 200 miles off the eastern Florida Coast seems likely to at least become a tropical depression over the next couple days. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance on Monday, if necessary. Right now the system is moving slowly southward to southwestward, but several computer models indicate, with time, this system will track north to northeastward, perhaps just off the east coast, but possibly tracking across the Outer Banks. Even with this track close to the coast, its possible the system will not get that strong. Regardless, anyone with interests along the East Coast the next several days needs to pay close attention to how this system evolves. If it does become a tropical storm, then its name would be Arthur.
